Well, I am eventually home. I had a lovely drive home. My Auntie came and picked me up and she had her new car, a shiny new white range rover. So that meant a very comfy ride home.
I brought a lot back with me, mostly clothes and washing, only two handbags and five pairs of shoes. I don’t really understand how I actually had so much stuff to carry.
Being back home is lovely but stressful at the moment. My mum is moving somewhere so much smaller than where we live now. And it’s not like this house is big. It’s a bungalow. I used to describe it as ‘shed-like’ it was that small so god knows how small this other place is going to be.
Meaning all my clothes have to go into storage, all my magazines, basically everything. Got to sort through all of it and eventually get everything out of my room.
I did go a bit shopping crazy last week. Not too bad but these are a couple of things I bought.
It was my last night out in Southampton so the girls in my flat went shopping :D. Hence the partyish-wear. I regret wearing these two items together as it did end in rather a slutty outfit. But I wore it and cut the tags out so no going back there…

Topshop, Shorts, £20.00 The shorts I would never have bought unless I tried them on and Katie and Vicky (my flat mates) said they looked good. I have quite fat legs so anything tight usually looks rather unattractive.
Miss Selfridge, Body, £20.00 The body I can wear with a lot of other things, such as my leather pleated skirt that I have and high waisted shorts so it was an investment buy.
This is my favourite purchase for about three months, I am in love with it. So bubbly and colourful. It was expensive but worth it, I wore it for practically three days straight. (Decided to take my own picture of this just because I love it so much, love the colours and everything about it.
In Southampton an Urban Outfitters store opened and I had been eyeing this up for a while online, so when I saw it I knew I had to buy it.
The Southampton store is very nice, three floors, one designer, one women’s and vintage, and the other men’s. Such a lovely shopping experience and wasn’t as packed as I thought going in on the day it opened!
This is a bit of a miscaellaneous picture compared to my shopping! But this is my pile of Vogue’s. I realised I am missing more than I thought. WAH. About 2 from each year averaged out from the beginning of 2008. With moving I had to get rid of my random issues of Elle, Dazed and Confused and i-D. Rather painful getting rid if magazines that I used to love. Keep thinking though, it’s a clean slate!
Again, I sit at my laptop traipsing through slide show after slide show on style.com. I make it sound like such a chore, but no, I don’t really know what I’d rather be doing than being sat in my warm bed on a cold evening flicking through slide shows of beautiful clothes. Of course being at the shows would be nice but that is just too much of a fantasy.
Lately, well within the last year or so I have been more attracted to fashion collections with a minimalistic feel to them, Jil Sander, Celine, Richard Nicoll so there is no surprise that I have found myself with a deep love of Calvin Klein.
Admittedly I don’t perhaps wear minimalistic style clothes that often, being quite young and bubbly I like to go with clothes that are a tad ‘wacky’ (gosh I hate that word.) The Topshop sort of style, patterns and textures and sometimes the vintage style. But I was extremely jealous when I saw the Spring RTW Collection by Calvin Klein for next year.
I can’t help but imagine the delicacy of the clothes. Silk perhaps, or something even more delicate. The colours add to the texture of the clothes too, in soft peach, cream and a metallic silver. The shapes of the dresses, just like usual are very simple, and hang off the model with perfection.
Calvin Klein clothing doesn’t look like it is made for a girl with curves, the ‘hanging off’ style seems to suit those with a frail body type. I know that sounds quite dreadful as being frail isn’t a positive aspect of health, sorry to use the word again, but the delicate body shape combined with the dress seems to produce a very elegant outcome. Models with long, straight, natural looking hair with tiny frames graced the catwalk looking so very sophisticated.
The spaghetti straps on camisole style dresses reminded me of the nineties. It always does. Topshop have recently started producing cami tops made of silky material and it takes me back despite the fact I was only seven years old when the end of the nineties arrived.
So the cream, peach and metallic colours all were very spring like but a certain proportion of the show was entailed all black outfits. In Winter I do love a black outfit and these were no exception despite being for Spring. The frailty and delicacy was still prevalent, and the integration of sheerness into the darker outfits really excited me. Certainly the style of outfits needed for nights out.
Shoes aren’t something that usually excite me too much, but these t-bar platform heels. The same style of shoe was in every single outfit just in a variation of colour, cream, peach, black, silver, and the lovely peachy and black combo which reminded my of the classic Chanel pump. The t-bar strap with a miniature ankle wrap looked very prim and chic.
To sum the collection up, I think the word exquisite should be used, the Spring season couldn’t come any quicker if this is the style that is going to be on the hightstreet!
Zara has definitely become my favourite high-street shop. Everything in there just looks so chic and sophisticated. I also think that Zara stores have the best looking interior in regards to shopping. Always such a lovely shopping experience. This is just a little selection of wishlist items that I want from Zara!
This dress is from the TRF section. I actually bought this the other day to cheer myself up, after looking online to get this picture I realised I prefer the black version but ahh well. It still looks lovely on.
Got a thing for florals and blouses, such a gorgeous print. Thought it would be very Spring like too.
Couldn’t resist putting this on the list, the print is just gorgeous. Trying to embrace maxi skirts a lot more recently too, always feel a tad more glamorous in a floaty maxi.
Looks incredibly expensive, would love to see it on with some nice heels as an evening style.
Paisley print, with black trim, material is just lovely too.
Such a beautiful looking bag, recently I have been trying to find a new handbag and just cannot find the perfect one. I’m fussy with straps and size, and although it would be great if this had a longer handle, I think this is the closest I have come to finding THE bag.
Started to look at inspiration for purchases from Spring/Summer 2012, as I don’t want to spend a lot on clothing that cannot be worn throughout next year. Though I remember when looking through style.com I was getting more excited about the Resort 2012 collections. This post really shows my favourites from S/S 2012 and Resort.
Christopher Kane S/S Ready To Wear 2012.
I must admit I did prefer his Resort collection but I have looked at that so many times I thought I’d take a deeper look into S/S. Metallics seem to be carried through into the next season just less glitzy, in your face and dark which is nice. I think I liked how different this was to his usual work, very subdue compared to the neon-ness of other collections. I also love anything flowery, so the t-shirt in the second picture is such a lust. Colourful flowers, on a mesh background = gorgeous.
Jil Sander S/S Ready To Wear 2012.
Jil Sander was my favourite for A/W 11/12 and althought this collection really is beautiful, it isn’t too wearable for me. I was disappointed in the lack of bright colours but did like the more demure white-ness of the collection. White an obvious choice for the season can sometimes look a bit tacky but clearly Raf Simons would never be able to create something that looked tacky.
Stell McCartney Resort 2012.
This has to be my favourite collection. The amount of searching I am doing for a Hawaiian style shirt right now is ridiculous. Always loved Stella’s tailoring and this is no exception, such beautiful, clean lines. The colour pallette is also interesting, in the first picture the two colours go so well together but never would ahve thought they would.
Preen Resort 2012.
Floral patterns and motifs, among bright colours an smart shapes. The two different styles of dresses in this post I adore, one a more hour-glass shape and the other a skater style, but both just as flattering.
Richard Nicoll Resort 2012.
I would never of liked this normally, but the simple cuts make sure that the metallic isn’t too much. I mean two different metallics making a whole outfit seems a bit daunting but the simplicity of the garments themselves make the outfit wearable. Particularly liking the polo shirt style.
I thought it was about time I did a post about my uni room. I hadn’t even taken any pictures up until last night but for some reason I went on a mad tidying spree and the results were so nice I had to take pictures…
This is what I refer to as my girly shelf. At uni I discovered I’m not as girly as I thought. At home I always thought I was quite a girly girl but living here really changed my perspective. My room is probably the least personalised. The lovely girls I live with have rugs, and pink bathroom matts, floral duvet sets, and basically a typical (but lovely!) girly room.
I had most of my perfumes on this shelf, deodorants, hairspray, moisturisers, and of course my beautiful collection of nail polishes and lipsticks! Being a student I haven’t been buying as much lipstick and nail polish
My lovely tree on the wall that I painted last year in A-Level art, had to bring it with me. My collection of teddies on my bed. The penguin I’ve yet to name as my housemate bought me last week :D, Winnie the Pooh, Mercutio the Monkey and Horatio the Hippo.
My desk area looking extremely tidy…
Discovered this is the 99p shop, had to buy it, craving chocolate so bad.
I bought this a while ago and it is the most amazing moisturiser ever, it is so velvety and nice. I have started tanning again, I know it isn’t good for my skin but it makes me feel a hell of a lot better when I have a bit of a tan. And apparently moisturising keeps the tan longer!
Anyways had such a fantastic week, got a lot of work done and looking forward to the next week.
I decided to look into other websites beside the usual ones I look at; Topshop.com, Zara.com, Riverisland.com, and Urbanoutfitters.co.uk.
I’ve always been intrigued with cheaper sites that seem to duplicate the clothes from the above just about a month later. I looked at Forever 21, Boohoo, Miss Guided, and Desire Clothing.
I have to say I was very impressed with the websites, in regards to what they are offering at the moment. The run up to Christmas means that people are buying a lot of party clothes and my gosh these shops are delivering! Gotta admit, I have been craving glitter, sparkle and shine a lot lately…
1. Sammy Dress, Grey, £4000, this I just thought was beautiful, lovely midi-length, such a nice colour and a bit of sparkle for Christmas. I am quite dubious about tops with sequins as I once owned a vest top with sequins around the sleeves and I ended up with a hideous rash on the inside of my arms…
2. Plum Circular Tribal Print Tee, £8.00, AHH only £8.00, couldn’t believe it, I’m lacking in comfy casual clothes and t-shirts from shops I’ve looked at recently are either completely plain, or stupidly expensive for a little motif. Burgundy or plum as it is described on this website is such a flattering colour I find such a lovely top.
3.
Black Faux Leather Zip Back Bracelet Top, £18.00, previous posts show my love for bralets, love faux leather too, perfect combination. Very on the ‘fetish’ trend too. Louis Vuitton did us proud for this season.
4.
Black Flower Embellished Chiffon Shift Dress, £30.00 got a feeling I saw a very similar one in Topshop, anything with flowers on like this attracts me based on my name…
5.
Leea V Strap Around Suspender Tights, £5.99, wanted some leggings like this for quite a while but might have to settle for the tights version, much cheaper too. Hopefully they would be quite robust.
6.
Narea Tailored Leather Contrast Dress, £24.99, again the faux leather! Getting a tad more body confident I guess so the body-con combination with mesh and faux leather excites me…just more than a little bit.
7.
Sabine Metallic Lurex Textured Mini Skirt, £15.00, lack of a body-con black skirt and perhaps the fact I at least see ten people wearing them each day and the way it sparkles, wonderful.
8.
Beaded Mosaic Clutch, £24.75, well I chose this because of how expensive it looks! It could easily be from Monsoon, would look lovely with a neutral toned outfit too.
Well this seems like a rather long post, I do apologise, and apologise for the amount of empty adjectives I have used within it. Amazing, lovely, wonderful, you know those type of words.
I have to admit, I usually do buy into the whole ‘over-priced’ gift sets you get from certain places. At Christmas I have to hold myself back from buying the little pieces.
A few weeks ago I had a friend come to stay and we went to John Lewis. One of my my first times in the store and we were both blown away. No idea why we got quite so excited about every single little thing in the store, from sofas to iPod speakers, to coffee machines and boardgames. We became so manic and over active we actually wore ourselves out.
Then today on my way home from uni I decided to pop into the Debenhams as I’d never explored the one in Southampton and wow, it was big. I didn’t spend too long in there because the weather was awful and eugh so I decided to just have a quick browse. I was amazed that every time you got off an escalator there were 100’s of mini gift sets. Obviously a keen marketing technique.
A browse around a shop is inspiration enough for most blog posts, I decided to do a wishlist. I do love making lists. Though this is a bit of a fantasy one. Not going to be able to actually afford anything on this list. Well maybe a couple but I have better priorities, like moisteriser and oh the most fun item; a roasting dish.

Usually posts about money will probably be about lack of money, but today I checked my bank balance and received a substanstial sum from work. When I say work, it’s not my current work, as you know I’m a student. The company I used to work for about 2 and half months ago decided to pay me. No idea why, but I thought I might as well start Christmas shopping.
Mother will be getting a £20 Primark gift card as her surprise present. But I also bought her a Rimmel Lipstick and some mascara. I always know Primark will go down well with Mother, she rarely shops anywhere else and I know she can get quite a bit for her money.
Of course I had to treat myself to a few things too…

£1 on the market in Southampton.

The finished result, I wanted a really Christmassy feel so decided on red and white undercoats. Rather liking this outcome so far.

Underwear set from Primark, £10 in total. I can never resist underwear in Primark and from my last post about lingerie I have been craving some new sets.

£7 from Primark, had matching pants but not in my size :(, going to have to keep checking when I go into town.

This was donated by my Grandma when I visited home, haven’t tried it out yet, doesn’t smell particularly nice but well ya never know, it could be a miracle wash.

A present from my Grandma to my mum, which was then donated from my mum to me, after a discussion of how low I am in the perfume department. All smell rather fabulous.
I don’t think I have ever done a post just about lingerie. Obviously, we are always wearing underwear, but it’s only occasionally that I bother making it match or wearing a particular beautiful set. I think with some money I get for Christmas (if any) I shall go on a nice spending spree for a bit of new underwear.
I have to admit I hate paying for lingerie. Overpriced is certainly the word that comes to mind when thinking about buying it. La Senza, £28 for a bra? I don’t think so. It’s the same with most high-street shops such as Topshop. I usually stick to Primark when buying. Even though their prices have increased in recent times I still believe they do the best value for money and it actually looks nice too, not all of it is cheap and tacky
Browsing the internet shops, as I regularly do, I came across some beautiful bra-lets. They are a weakness of mine, I only have two but I once spent £28 on one, in a whim in Topshop Oxford Street. So impractical, it itches, it isn’t padded and I get hot in it quite a lot but well, it was just too pretty. Back then I did have a passion for florals too, that seems to have died a tad.
I think my fave out of all of these would certainly be the Topshop ones. I want to buy a few of these bra-lets to actually wear out. I know that might not seem too appropriate and often I look down on people who wear bras as outerwear on a night out but I’d make sure I would be covered up elsewhere. It is very easy to end up looking slightly like a prostitute on a night out. This usually only applies to a certain few. I do apologise for being so judgemental as I am sure they are lovely people but if you are over 5ft 7, slim with big boobs, it probably isn’t appropriate to wear the tightest dress possible, showing off your cleavage and 7 inch heels just on a night out in Southampton.
WOW I sound like a horrible, negative person right now. Maybe it is just jealousy, that they can get away with it.
